Senior Designer

Location: Must be based in Victoria, BC
Hybrid: 3 days a week in office, 2 days remote
Salary Band: $105,000 - $120,000K CAD

We are looking for a Senior Designer to play a key role in shaping the future of Left On Friday product. This role sits at the intersection of active and lifestyle, designing pieces that transition seamlessly across sweat, movement, travel, and everyday wear. This is an opportunity to help define what modern performance dressing looks like for women who are constantly in motion from ocean swims to workouts to city life and travel.

As a Senior Designer, you will partner closely with the Co-Founder / CIO to help evolve the creative vision of the brand while driving product excellence across categories. You will own design from initial concept through final execution, bringing a highly elevated design eye alongside deep technical expertise in fit, fabric, and construction.

This is a highly cross-functional leadership role ideal for a designer who is both creative and operationally strong, someone who can think strategically, execute at a high level, and contribute meaningfully to the growth and evolution of the product organization. What You'll Own

Design Leadership

  • Lead the design and development of key categories across active and active lifestyle

  • Create product that balances technical performance with modern, elevated style

  • Design versatile product that moves seamlessly between water, movement, travel, and everyday life

  • Translate seasonal creative direction into commercially viable and emotionally resonant product

  • Drive silhouette innovation, proportion, styling, and outfitting strategies across categories

  • Develop clear sketches, CADs, technical flats, and design documentation with exceptional attention to detail

  • Identify emerging trends, market shifts, and consumer behaviours while filtering them through the LOF lens

  • Contribute to long-term product vision and category evolution

Product Excellence

  • Own product through the full design lifecycle from concept to final approval

  • Lead fit, fabric, and construction conversations in partnership with Development and Technical Design

  • Apply deep expertise in performance fabrics, compression, support, stretch, recovery, and functionality

  • Elevate product through refined detailing, thoughtful finishes, and clean construction techniques

  • Ensure product achieves the highest standards of fit, comfort, performance, and aesthetic execution

  • Participate in fittings and provide strong design direction throughout product refinement

Fabric & Innovation

  • Partner closely on sourcing and developing best-in-class materials aligned with LOF’s standards

  • Contribute to innovation in fabrics, trims, garment construction, and performance functionality

  • Explore new fabric platforms and category opportunities that support the future growth of the brand

  • Balance innovation with wearability, comfort, and commercial viability

  • Maintain a strong understanding of the competitive landscape across premium swim, active, and lifestyle markets

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Merchandising to align product strategy with assortment architecture and business goals

  • Partner with Development and Production teams to ensure design intent is maintained through commercialization

  • Collaborate with Brand & Creative on seasonal storytelling, colour direction, and campaign alignment

  • Support product calendar milestones and key cross-functional deadlines

  • Present concepts, seasonal direction, and product strategies clearly and confidently to leadership teams

  • Build strong relationships across departments to drive clarity, momentum, and executional excellence

Team Contribution & Leadership

  • Act as a senior creative contributor and trusted partner within the design organization

  • Manage, support and mentor junior designers and design assistants, and cross-functional team members where needed

  • Help elevate creative standards, design processes, and ways of working across the team

  • Contribute to building a strong, collaborative, high-performing, and low-ego design culture

  • Lead with curiosity, ownership, adaptability, and a solutions-oriented mindset


Who You Are

  • A highly creative and technically strong designer with a refined and modern design perspective

  • Passionate about designing product that empowers women to feel confident, comfortable, supported, and capable

  • Deeply knowledgeable in fit, fabric, construction, and performance apparel design

  • Comfortable designing across swim, active, and lifestyle categories while maintaining a cohesive product point of view

  • Both conceptual and executional,  able to think big while also obsessing over detail

  • Collaborative, humble, and energized by working closely with cross-functional partners

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and evolving priorities within a high-growth environment

  • Highly organized with strong communication and presentation skills

  • Passionate about movement, travel, wellness, and modern active lifestyles

Qualifications

  • 8–10+ years of experience in women’s apparel design, with strong experience in swim, activewear, or performance product

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating both elevated aesthetic sensibility and technical product expertise

  • Deep understanding of performance fabrics, garment construction, fit, and functional design

  • Experience designing across multiple categories and outfitting concepts

  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator

  • Experience working within product calendars and managing development timelines

  • Experience partnering with overseas factories and development teams

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation capabilities

  • Experience operating within fast-paced, high-growth, or entrepreneurial environments preferred
