Merchandise Manager

Reporting to the VP of Merchandising, the Merchandise Manager is responsible for building, optimizing and executing against Left On Fridays product strategies ensuring we have the right product at the right time in the right places. This person will create and own seasonal line plans based on market needs that will maximize sales, profitability, grow our brand and deliver on our long term company strategy. This person is a seasoned product strategist, cross-functional partner and collaborator. The Merchandise Manager will work with a small, brilliant team at one of the most desirable, fastest growing DTC brands out there today! 

Core Responsibilities 

Assortment Strategy & Line Planning

  • Build and own seasonal line plans that deliver the right product, at the right time, in the right channels.

  • Develop a profitable, brand-right assortment grounded in consumer insight, market trends, and long-term growth objectives.

  • Define pricing architecture and margin goals; ensure all assortments meet or exceed financial targets.

  • Identify assortment gaps, opportunities, and risks; propose proactive solutions and chase strategies.

  • Create and deliver clear visuals and presentations for product strategy, flow, and inventory status.


Product Lifecycle Management

  • Oversee the full product lifecycle from concept through in-season management, including chase and end-of-life decisions.

  • Partner closely with Design, Planning, Production, and Marketing to ensure all milestones in the go-to-market calendar are met.

  • Ensure timely and accurate product briefs, delivery flows, and inventory visibility across all channels (ecom, retail, wholesale).

  • Champion cross-functional alignment to bring the product strategy to life.


Cross-Functional Partnership & Execution

  • Collaborate with Planning to develop demand forecasts and buy plans that support inventory and sales objectives.

  • Partner with Production to maintain strong factory relationships and ensure on-time deliveries.

  • Work with Brand, Marketing, and Community teams to translate product strategy into clear storytelling that drives sell-through and customer engagement.

  • Lead the PO creation and management process for both pre-season and in-season buys.


Business Analytics & Performance Management

  • Own key merchandising analytics, including weekly selling, OTB, pre-season plans, and hindsight reporting.

  • Monitor in-season performance to optimize inventory, maximize margin, and react quickly through rebuys, markdowns, and assortment adjustments.

  • Present product performance insights, seasonal strategies, and line architecture to internal stakeholders and external partners.


Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Assistant Merchant, fostering growth, accountability, and strong cross-functional collaboration.

  • Foster a strong, solutions-oriented partnership with the Planner; align closely on forecasting, OTB decisions, and in-season actions to ensure the merchandising and planning functions operate as a unified, high-performing team.

  • Model a high-performance, positive, and solution-oriented mindset across the product team.


Additional Responsibilities

  • Stay ahead of industry trends and consumer behaviour; translate insights into actionable recommendations.

  • Perform additional tasks as needed to support the success of the Merchandising function.



Key traits we’re looking for: 

  • Bachelor’s degree 

  • 7+ years experience in a similar role within a product merchandising environment

  • Strong awareness of lifestyle and fashion trends

  • Proven ability to drive performance

  • Extensive experience in product costing and retail math

  • Highly organized with a keen eye for the detail

  • Strong knowledge of data and systems, you possess amazing Excel skills! 

  • You have a proven track record as a positive and enthusiastic leader. People love to work with and for you!

  • You are a strong independent worker who makes sound business decisions, can multi-task and can pivot and prioritize as required 

  • You are an equally strong collaborator and who thrives in fast-paced environments and loves to bring people together and on the journey with you

  • Your communication skills both written and verbal are A+. You are clear and succinct. 

Location: Must be based in Vancouver, BC

Hybrid: 3 days in office, 2 days remote

Salary band: $100,000 - $120,000 CAD
