Spotlighting women who embody positive energy, strength and spirit

It may seem unlikely to become a beach volleyball star when you're from South Dakota, but Betsi Flint found her way to the sand. A well-rounded athlete, she went pro fresh out of Loyola Marymount University, both coaching and playing. Now 31, she's part of Team USA and plays another big role, mom to 3-year-old Cora, putting her in a small cohort of mothers who are active in her sport. With the support of her family, including husband Chase, she's a seven-time Association of Volleyball Professionals champion (one of many accolades!) - and we couldn't be more proud to have her as an LOF ambassador.

What has motherhood taught you?
Definitely to focus on my "why." Before I had my daughter, I was training with purpose and I was really focused, but having her was challenging. I was sacrificing so much time and energy away from her. So for me, my "why" is to inspire my daughter and other young women to pursue their passions and their dreams and knowing that they can have a family and balance both.

How do you get it all done?
Balancing parenthood and training is a big challenge. Right now, I train in the mornings up until about 1:00pm or 2:00pm. My husband will watch our daughter, and then we swap. He goes to work all evening, and I'm on mom duty the rest of the day. We're able to balance that well.

What do you feel most comfortable wearing?

Anything that's athletic and makes me look like I'm trying - which is why I love Left On Friday!

You're leaving on Friday, where are you going?

Greece! It's on my bucket list.
