Technical Development Assistant

Reporting directly to our Product Engineer, the Technical Development Assistant will play a pivotal role in ensuring the design, function, fit and quality of our swimwear and apparel designs, assisting in development of the line from tech pack hand off through to production of garments. You will be at the forefront of the product development process, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to bring our brand vision to life. Key Responsibilities:

- Support daily work flow of the Product Engineers by building out our systems and documentation with product details such as style numbers, construction details, BOMs and colorways
- Partner with Product Engineers to establish standards and maintain data integrity in Centric PLM, illustrator and other systems for all our product
- Anticipate, receive, label, measure, analyze and organize prototypes in preparation for fittings and presentations
- Take detailed, organized and consistent notes during fittings and call out discrepancies 
- Update tech packs and support with communicating comments and making proto requests with factory partners
- Maintain Quality Assurance (QA) standards throughout the sample concept stage through to TOP samples to ensure standards and specs have been followed 
- Own the facilitation of internal and external wash and wear testing for quality assurance of new product development
- Manage time and work flow that adheres to GTM calendar and development timelines
- Participate in meetings and cross-functional discussions to support the achievement of project milestones and deadlines, proactively identifying and addressing potential challenges or bottlenecks
- Stay in touch of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to innovation and garment construction, sharing insights and recommendations with the team to drive continuous improvement and innovation
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

- Driven by the technical aspect of the product creation process with in-depth product knowledge of the full product lifecycle with a strong understanding of garment construction, fit and production processes
- Experience and proficiency working in Garment PLM systems, Adobe Illustrator and Google Drive (experience working in Miro and Clo3D or similar platforms is an asset)
- Self starter with a proactive sense of urgency who thrives in a fast paced environment and adds value to the product team with their unique perspective
- Analytical attention to detail with fast and accurate data input, coupled with a collaborative and proactive approach to teamwork
- Excellent time management, problem-solving and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, changing and deadline-driven environment 
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information and articulate complex ideas to diverse audiences on cross functional teams
- Passion for innovation, creativity, and continuous learning, with a commitment to staying current with industry trends and developments


- Bachelor's degree in Technical Design, Product Development or related field (preferred); equivalent professional experience will be considered
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in the apparel industry with a demonstrated track record of success


Location: 
Victoria BC, Hybrid: 3 days in office/ 2 days remote per week. 
Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000 CAD
