Junior Accountant

The Jr. Accountant will play a key role in managing the company’s financial obligations, ensuring accurate and timely payment processing, and maintaining vendor relationships. Reporting directly to the Job-Shared Finance Managers, this entry-level role will primarily focus on accounts payable while also providing general support across the finance team. In addition to handling invoices and vendor reconciliations, you will assist with basic financial tasks such as data entry, account reconciliations, and supporting the month-end closing process. You will work with a small, brilliant team on one of the most desirable, fast-growing DTC brands today. This position is remote and is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in both accounts payable and broader finance functions in a growing retail and DTC environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Invoice Processing: Review, verify, and process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Payment Management: Assist in preparing payment runs, ensuring all payments are made on schedule and maintaining accurate records of all transactions.
  • Vendor Reconciliation: Maintain and reconcile vendor accounts, addressing discrepancies and resolving issues as they arise
  • Expense Reporting: Track and report company expenses, ensuring accurate coding and documentation in the accounting system.
  • General Finance Support: Assist with basic financial tasks such as data entry, maintaining general ledger records, and ensuring accurate posting of financial transactions.
  • Bank and Account Reconciliations: Support the finance team in performing reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial accounts as part of month-end closing processes.
  • Month-End Close: Assist with journal entries, account reconciliations, and other tasks related to month-end and year-end financial reporting.

 


Experience & Qualifications:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Accounting or related. Degree will be an asset.
  • Basic understanding of accounts payable processes and accounting principles.
  • Experience in a retail or e-commerce environment preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to tasks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

    Salary Range: $45,000 - $50,000 CAD
