Logistics Operations Manager

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Logistics - Operations Manager to join our team. This crucial role involves overseeing transportation, B2B/B2C order fulfillment, 3PL/DC management, and duty and customs regulations. The ideal candidate will bring experience in order fulfillment, inventory control, and logistics, coupled with a deep understanding of customs regulations. Key responsibilities include navigating customs procedures, negotiating rates, and implementing robust inventory control strategies. Managing relationships with freight forwarders and couriers to ensure efficient transportation is also a priority. The Logistics Operations Manager will work closely with business partners and senior leadership to achieve all business objectives. Exceptional communication skills and the ability to thrive in a demanding environment are essential for success in this role.


Core Responsibilities  


- Oversee transportation operations, including coordination of inbound and outbound shipments 
- Optimize delivery routes to ensure timely delivery of goods
- Manage relationships with transportation service providers
- Negotiate contracts and monitor performance metrics for cost-effectiveness and efficiency
- Collaborate with internal teams to streamline transportation processes and resolve and issues and delays
- Develop and implement strategies to minimize transportation-related costs
- Organize shipments of fabric and trims from suppliers to factory, factory to factory, factory to DC (in multiple countries)

3PL/DC Management

Oversee relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PL) and distribution centers (DC)
- Develop and manage all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for our team, ensuring adherence to company guidelines, service level agreements (SLAs), and key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Manage the creation and submission of all Advance Shipping Notices (ASNs) required for inbound shipments
Provide support for order submissions related to inventory transfers, events, and sample orders
Foster partnerships with wholesale teams and coordinate wholesale processes to support business growth

Customs and Duties 

Ensure compliance with all customs regulations and requirements for importing and exporting goods
Coordinate with customs brokers to facilitate smooth clearance of shipments and resolve any customs-related issues or delays that may arise
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tariff classifications, duty rates, and trade agreements
Prepare and submit all necessary documentation for customs clearance, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin
Work closely with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate recording and payment of duties and taxes
Implement strategies to minimize duty costs and optimize customs clearance processes

Inventory Control

- Implement and maintain standard inventory control procedures to minimize errors and discrepancies
Conduct regular audits and cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory levels
Collaborate with relevant teams to promptly address and resolve any quality issues
Develop and enforce procedures for receiving, storing, and picking inventory accurately
Implement measures to prevent shrinkage and loss, such as security protocols
Continuously review and optimize inventory management processes to improve efficiency and accuracy


Create monthly and quarterly logistics dashboards encompassing key performance indicators (KPIs), such as on-time delivery rates, transportation costs, inventory turnover, and order fulfillment accuracy
Compile and analyze data from various sources, including transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), and inventory tracking software
Present insights and trends derived from the data to senior leadership, providing actionable recommendations for process improvements and cost savings
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather input and feedback on dashboard metrics, ensuring alignment with business objectives


Demonstrated success in logistics management, shipping coordination, operations, or related roles, with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in managerial positions
Thorough understanding of domestic and international shipping regulations, including customs clearance procedures, export controls, and compliance with relevant trade laws
Experience in logistics operations, encompassing carrier coordination, transportation route optimization, shipping schedule management, and warehouse oversight
Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, adept at liaising with internal teams, external partners, and carriers to facilitate shipping activities and address issues promptly
Strong problem-solving aptitude and decision-making, capable of swiftly identifying issues, analyzing root causes, and implementing effective solutions to ensure punctual delivery and uphold customer satisfaction
Familiarity with 3PL operations, inventory control, and quality assurance
Excellent communication and people skills, fostering effective collaboration and relationship-building across all levels of the organization

    Remote, BC
    Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000 CAD depending on experience.
